No that's not an alien planet, it's man's latest enemy the Coronavirus. Here are some suggestions to consider in treating or dealing with the Cornavirus or Covid-19 virus.
Never, never underestimate a new disease, there’s just too much unknown.

First I suggest you learn more about the 1918 influenza epidemic, videos are on YouTube also. You will instantly see that face masks were almost worthless in the prevention of the user catching the virus. It was most useful for the person who had the virus in prevention of infecting others as it reduced spreading by cough or sneezing. The USA has been slow to learn from past mistakes in controlling a pandemic virus. Cremation and mass graves became the only viable solutions in dealing with the number of dead. If you have not stopped and talked as a family as how you will respond should a family member or friend becomes infected, do so now.
CARING FOR YOURSELF AT HOME. Learn how to properly apply and use disinfectants. They take time to work, its not just "an apply and walk away" solution. Many require the surface to remain wet for up to 3 minutes to be effective. Treat all surfaces you touch as if they are covered with crap, which includes escalators handrails and elevator buttons and door knobs/handles and public computer terminal keyboards. Don't share cell phones or drinks. Don't touch any part of your or anyone's body where it is wet or moist without washing hands. Wash your
Consider gloves. Treat snotty tissues as bombs get rid of them don't let them pile up. If you have not been tested wear a mask. If
you are unlucky and catch the virus don't spread it, seek medical advice, stay home take care of yourself and inform others. use toilet cleansing tablets to help keep commodes clean.Take a break from dating for a short while. Rethink key events such as birthday parties, marriage ceremonies, funerals, and family gatherings as a whole. Don't be the person who wipes out your entire family-tree. Now is the time to learn Skype. Sit with one empty chair between you and another at any event or bar you attend. Symptoms do not appear till 6+ days after exposure.

The CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died (2018-2019 Flu Season Was the Longest in 10 Years, CDC Says | Time Jun 20, 2019)

What kills most people with the Coronavirus and other viruses is acute respiratory distress syndrome. Consider Lasix or another diuretic for fluid buildup.

(ARDS). ARDS is a complex clinical syndrome characterized by acute inflammation, microvascular damage, and increased pulmonary vascular and epithelial permeability, frequently resulting in acute respiratory failure and death.

If you catch the virus, consider not sleeping in a bed or at least not flat. Sleeping in an adjustable bed or recliner may save your life due to the fluid build-up in your lungs. When you are sleeping and not receiving full breaths your blood oxygen level falls, and it could fall to a level where you pass out and would be unable to call for help. Which brings me to my next recommendation get a google home unit or an Alexa unit, this serves many purposes to the bed-bound or invalid person when sick. Reducing your daily fluid intake is something to consider . Reduce soda and sweet drinks as best you can . Consider the use of oxygen if repository problems are present. Increase your overall nutrient intake, especially vitamin D, C and B12. Increase your Zinc intake levels to at least 50mg per day. These vitamins will not prevent the virus, but should help afterwards. When in doubt get tested. Prevention is cheaper than the treatment. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which covers testing costs going forward, but it doesn’t do anything to address the cost of treatment.
Forget about traveling anywhere, besides when you get there is no place to stay, eat at, or take-in any event. Its not worth your life or others to see any city or tourist location. Teach your children about cleanliness and how diseases spread.

W.h.o. does not recommend taking ibuprofen instead take a tylenol type product. Then that information changed. The final word on this interaction is unknown, My thoughts are why take the chance this is an emerging science.
Because the virus is not alive in the normal understanding of that word, as it is more of a protein RNA existence there is nothing to Kill so no product can be used to "kill" it. Instead the goal is more toward washing away the bastard and stopping the spread.Washing down surfaces and zones may be a better approach.
The recommendations herein are just my personal beliefs and things I have learned in life. Use or ignore as you see fit.

It's a war. Losing weight at least in America is a daily battle. The enemy works hard at undermining your defenses and infiltrating your ranks. The commercials, the "value size" containers, and magazines are always present.

Then the propaganda. We are taught from childhood that food invokes pleasures, family unity, healthiness, companionship, healthy bones, stronger teeth, shiny hair and so many other things. If these things were all true then why are so many of us overweight, unhappy, depressed and alone? Some would say that simply is because WE have poor self-control and/or no will power.

But maybe, just maybe, we are basing our opinions, hopes and health on false or misleading information.

Truth in listing calories. Did you know that most "calories" we see printed regarding foods are actually kilocalories also known as "Kcal?" Meaning a thousand calories. In common usage, non-specialists and consumers refer to kilocalories as calories, although these two terms have different technical definitions. Think about this . . .If you knew a Big Mac was really 540,000 calories and not 540 calories, would that make a difference to you?

Calories in a pound of fat. Read any book, study or whatever and the answer would be 3500 calories. A pound of dead fat might truly be that, however, a pound of live fat (that which is on your body) is closer to 2400 calories. These live fat calories is what makes or breaks our weight goals.

The body has two basic food needs and two basic byproducts.

Nutrients. This being the vitamins, minerals, and acids needed for the body to process and function. The values for which would be based not upon a baseline of disease prevention as it is now, but based upon an optimum level.

Energy. This being the stored fat of the body and part of the daily food consumed.

Refuse solid.

Refuse liquid. (includes vapor and sweat)

The thought of basing food consumption upon calories is flawed. It should be based upon weight, not volume and a conversion factor based upon section 2 above. It's more in line with today's thinking of yield and exactness. In example: 4 ounces of celery might list, the nutrient values, how much is burnable energy and how much is waste products.

If we truly embrace the thinking that we as a group of beings are basically the same, then a base line approach should be able to be calculated for each gender and height, the variable would be current weight. The metabolic rate should be viewed as a self-controlled variable. It is well established that it can be raised or lowered within a parameter.

The 24-hour clock for our bodies might be expressed as sleeping and non-sleeping periods. The difference being sleep time is positioned as a rejuvenation period of minimum cellular activity and the non-sleeping period being active cellular activity.

A diet plan addressing paragraph 2, would have a higher success rate. A proper food plan would be created after reaching the targeted weight.

Sometimes as much as a day or two in advance, if you are planning to cook something. Sometimes just a couple of minutes in advance, if you are about to pour yourself a bowl of cereal (or chips). Looking it up first helps you make smarter and better choices (e.g., air-popped popcorn instead of chips) or to adjust proportions (e.g., 1 cup of spaghetti sauce and 1 cup of pasta, instead of 2 cups of pasta and 1/2 cup of sauce) to maximize satisfaction and nutrition and minimize calories.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-117599791432918381.post-61634763565266729752013-10-12T23:24:00.000-04:002020-03-21T08:48:27.642-04:00Obesity and Vitamin D

Did you know that a person who is obese (BMI of 30 or greater) requires 2 to 5 times the amount of Vitamin D? That's 1,200 to 3,000 IU's a day. Body fat interferes with vitamin D absorption.

The government recommends
200 to 600 IU of vitamin a day. This is the amount you need to prevent
rickets, a disease caused by vitamin D deficiency. But the real question
is: How much vitamin D do we need for OPTIMAL health? This website recommends a daily intake of 4,000 IU's daily.
Obesity and vitamin A deficiency is also common.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-117599791432918381.post-31894917207454662013-10-11T08:45:00.001-04:002013-10-18T08:53:54.145-04:00What our diets are lacking

To be successful in losing weight, one must first visualize them self being thinner.

Can someone obtain sustainable weight loss? The short answer is yes, however, it will require both mental and physical change. It will also require resistance to both pier and marketing resistance.

Before going into a diet routine, first attempt the mental and physical change. This is simply both a forward-thinking mental picture of yourself thinner as well as slight reductions in the quantity or type of the food that you consume.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-117599791432918381.post-7532798355267808142013-06-05T11:12:00.000-04:002013-06-05T11:33:13.760-04:00Help me lose weight

People have a love affair with food. Be it salty, fatty, crunchy, sweet or bitter it nourishes our body and soul. Then why does it seem to hate us so? If it's not making us fat, it's giving us upset stomachs, achy body parts, gas, the jitters and/or disease. Is it us or the food?

It's really both. You probably have gotten in some bad food habits and need to address them in order to be successful at weight control. A friend of mine for instances eats his 1/2lb hamburgers in about 4 bites in about one minute. It always amazed me. He said he enjoyed his food but I just can't believe it. Regardless the burger was in chunks in his stomach and his body would now spend eternity digesting it.

Now I was a big eater. Buffets made no money on me and when I brought along a friend to dine with, I think they may have actually lost money. Overeating of course is always a no-no. I saw once on some third rate television movie that one day maybe will have food flavored candy. It may be science fiction now but one day it will surely happen. So what do we do now? What should I do to help me lose weight?

10 things to loose weight and tame your food cravings and appetite

Get smaller plates and bowels. My bowls served 16oz and my plates served Fred Flintstone. That is of course if I used them. Many times I used a mixing bowl or an old Cool Whip container. Get new bowls that hold about 12oz and throw out the the plastic crap you have collected.

Eat ice. Growing up down south, I remember that was a thing everyone did. I have a friend that sucks on ice after dialysis. Ice gives you something to chew on and has no calories. Give it a try.

Eat soups and serve them HOT! Eating a hot soup forces you slow down. The soup being mainly water helps to fill you up. Soup are good for you and many are low fat..

Need some snacks, try these. Popcorn, fried pork rinds, kale chips, nuts, pumpkin seeds, rice cakes, pickles, olives and pickled jalapeno peppers just to name a few.

Drink fluids. Your going to have to balance sweet and salt intake here for many drinks. Tomato juice (low sodium) makes a great morning or snack drink. Flavored waters are both inexpensive and taste good. Stay away from diet drinks, the super concentrated sweetener in them will only make matters worse. Tea is a great choice served either hot or cold. Water of course is always available. Coffee should be consumed in limited quantities, decaffeinated is better for weight managment.

Clean out the fridge and the cabinets. Now is the time to make a donation to the food bank and start your healthy eating. Haven't washed the fridge lately? Now is your chance. Be brutal. If it's expired throw it out. If you have two, throw one away. If you haven't eaten, squirted or spread it on something in the last 3 months throw it out. Leftovers are now trash, throw them out. Throw out the ice and wash the ice caddy, your drinks will taste better. Don't forget to look under the drawers. Remember the soda and milk that spilled several weeks ago? Yeah, its growing arms done there. Got a UFO (Unidentifiable Frozen Object)in the freezer? Chuck it. Look at the labels on the items in your pantry. If it has poor nutrition donate it or chuck it.

Don't buy "diet" or "light" salad dressing. The stuff is almost always loaded with salt and the calories are almost the same as the regular dressing. Make your own low fat/low sodium dressings. There are recipes here on this site. The high salt makes you want more of everything and will cause water retention. Not to mention most taste like crap.

Don't try to cut all the fat. While you want to cut down on fat, trying to cut it all out will only make it worse. Some vitamins need fat in order to dissolved. Fat is what we like to eat. Try cutting in half first.

Never say "Just a taste." Either don't do it all or plan to eat some. Those "tastes" add up fast and you still will not be satisfied. If your hungry, eat a snack size and be done with it.

Limit alcohol and any other habits that make you crave food.

Remember there are calories in almost everything we eat. We should not associate food with comfort and happiness. It's purpose is to nourish us. Start training yourself that food is better for you when it is consumed because you are hungry and not just to be kind or because some "event" happens.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
